What constitutes a piece being a performance? What separates a concert piece from an installation? What defines a piece of sound art as performative?
WHY ARE WE SHOWCASING A NEED FOR PERFORMERS WHEN WE ALWAYS FIDDLE WITH OUR PHONES AND STUFF? COMPUTERS CAN DO EVERYTHING FOR US..!!!...????...!!!!!
"Soil" is a concert piece for a computer, performing a pre-composed patch by producing feedback with its built-in microphone, and then dispersing it into eight speakers in surround disposition via an automated MAX patch. This work attempts to explore a place where the products, which nature yields, cannot disintegrate. After a certain amount of interference, they can yield only more synthetic product. Synthetic product can only be recycled.
